Summary

Easier to deal with fan shroud for printrbot play that does not block view, allows for easy mid-print filament changes, but still does its job.

Instructions

Both parts are printed with standard settings. You might need to trim the lower fan mount connecting points to fit them to the upper part. The upper fan is mounted to the side closest to the extruder. The lower fan is mounted on the outside or side furthest from the hot end, to prevent interference with bed mount screws.

My factory shroud rubs on the sides of the printer and gets stuck if it goes too high, does this shroud fix those issues?

I printed this out of PLA and it's......AWESOME!!!! Works like a charm!
Very good job. I see no improvements as of yet ;)

After trying it out, I found that the fan shroud is now too low and is touching the print when it goes by. Help?

The top fan is mounted 'inside' the shroud and the bottom fan is mounted on the 'outside' of the shroud, otherwise it will hit the print and the bed mounting screws.

If you are using a shorter than standard hot end, that could also be an issue.

Dataman shows a pic with the lower fan mounted in the correct position.

Nice job, this worked perfectly for me.

What is the plastic sheet you are printing on. Will try this tonight

I have to admit.... I cheated... I have a printrbot plus which has the awesome heated metal bed that I set to 70C. My shroud stuck to it as if it were glued to it.

The play I have is a conversion build from a Maker 1405. It has a skinny metal plate with Kapton tape on it. When I printed with the Maker 1405 or now with the play, I clean the Kapton tape surface with 90% Isopropanol, let it dry, then spray the tape with aquanet super extra hold hair spray. After spraying and before the hair spray dries, I even out the hair spray over the bed with a clean paper towel, being sure to not clean the hair spray off as much as spread it around. At that point, anything I start to print on the non-heated bed, sticks like glue.
