Really nice design. Printed so well with a raft and supports only to the build plate that it popped off the raft and all supports when it was being removed from the plate. The only suggestion that I would make with it would have been to place the "petals" at angles that don't directly overlap with the ones below them to give it a more organic feel. Very nicely done however and prints easily.

What supports did you use?

Thanks! I've got a couple more designs in the works, I'll keep the suggestion in mind.

Very nice design, did you made the bottom hole just perfect for the LED candle or was that on accident, perfect design.

I measured it before modeling it haha.

How small can this be scaled down? I know the light wouldn't be able to fit inside, but I'm trying to decrease print time.

Good question, I'd say trial & error would be the best approach. Try printing at the smallest size you want and then if it doesn't work you can always scale up accordingly.

Alrighty then, thanks for the reply.

printed it amazing thanks XD

Awesome! So glad you like it!

You know what's really annoying? When creators either don't test print their own stuff or don't scale their own stuff or don't include the right print settings in the description. This thing needs infill or it'll string horribly within the first few hours.

Hi Ashslayer,
Sorry yours didn't print right when you downloaded it!
Feel free to message me and I can walk you through some of the problems you faced when printing the lamp. Originally when I posted this model two years ago I was using my XYZ DaVinci and didn't have any need for support materials or anything and just used the standard 20% infill, all 3D printers are different and a degree of trial and error is expected.

Mine warped, it is suggested to run it on 85-90 C without a raft.

That has nothing to do with my comment.

looks very similar to the flower in the new guardians of the galaxy movie

Do you have a link to the picture you're referencing? I saw the new movie but I'm curious as to which one you are referring to.

its the one shown to starlords mom by ego in the forest behind the dairy queen I have done some searches online but cant find a picture

just to check i hope no one put a candle in one of these.. it would melt pretty fast..

Yes no real candles! Only LED tea lights!

This is amazing! I would love to make one of these for the anniversary of my partners transplant, and add a quote to it to remember the donor. The only problem is that I don't know how to model with mesh models. Could somebody please upload it as a solid model?

Hello! Thanks for the compliment!
What program are you using? And are you asking if the 3D file can be converted to NURBS instead of Mesh? I had used Rhino to model this piece and was originally with NURBS but then converted to Mesh when generating the STL file.

thanks for the reply, I am using both solidworks and inventor but when i import it, it comes in as 1200 bodies. Could you please upload it in step or iges formats?

thank you very much :)

Hello! Sure thing I can try converting to those files later tonight. Or as soon as possible!

Thank you so much, i really appreciate it

Hi! I just uploaded an IGES file that hopefully should work with Inventor 5. Hope this helps!

Thank you very much! didn't import into Inventor 2016 too well but solidworks and creo handle it fine :)

Keep up the good work, I've sent you a tip :)

Awesome! Thank you!!

Where are the files? I'm new to thingyverse and 3d printing? How do i print this for my 6yo daughter?

Just have to click the download button and upload the file to your 3D printer. Hope that helps

Thanks, i must've missed seeing that download all button, because the only Burton i saw earlier said sent to makerbot mobile

Well there ya go! Just in time for the holidays haha

Infill I typically use is 35 percent, but if anyone has better suggestions feel free to comment!

I had to shrink this down to .87, since it wouldn't fit completely on my Printrbot - so the tea light didn't fit.
That being said, the print came out beautifully!
Thank you for the wonderful design!

Sorry for the late reply but I'm glad you like my design!

Thank you for the work

Thanks for the kind words!

Hi I made this and it came out beautifully apart from the top surface on the bottom leaves (the ones used as a base). The internal lattice still shows through. It appears it needs at least another 4 or 5 passes to complete this layer properly.
I use replicator 2g software on a wanhao Duplicator 4.

Can you recommend extrusion speeds and temperatures?

Mine uses 1.75 mm ABS filament

Otherwise it is beautiful..

Another option would be to increase your bottom and top thickness and that allow for more layers to cover the fill inside. Lets say you have it set to 1 mm, then just increase it to 1.3 and you should be fine.

Hi thanks for the compliment for the design. As far as the print settings I used: I printed the Radiant Blossom on my Da Vinci 1.0 at .3 layer height with 1.75 mm ABS filament. I am not too familiar with the slicing program you used. On my Da Vinci the extruder heats up to 212 degrees Celsius. My guess is if you did not want the internal supports to show through technically you could just make the model solid however that may use up more plastic than intended. It's hit or miss with ABS plastic sometimes.

Hi!

Nice design, but:

-Must be repaired (I do it with Netfabb).

-It's out of scale (6.5mmx6.5mmx3.94mm).

What is the correct scale, please?

Hi sorry for the scale issues, the problem was it had to be scaled up to mm to inches. On my Da Vinci printer it does that for me but I could see the confusion that happened. Anyways I uploaded the new file so let me know if you get it to work this time!
When I printed mine in inches it was 6.5 x 6.5 but the new file I uploaded should work for mm.

Anyone have a recommended scale size? Thanks.

Hey sorry for the scale issues. I originally modeled the file in inches but I just uploaded the new file so it should work for mm now. Please let me know if this worked for you!
