Poppy the 3D Printed Robot

This is an opensource project that deserves to be shared and recognized on Thingiverse. It was on Thingiverse before, but later deleted by the user. This upload is to help raise awareness about this awesome project.

My research into this project estimates that you can have your own 3D printed humanoid robot for approximately $8000 in hardware.


Poppy project notes

If interested in this project, the "Poppy_3D_Parts_Bundle.zip" contains all the 3D printable parts and they are organized by body section.

The STL files were uploaded so people could see the parts in the Thingiviewer without downloading them.

The source files have not changed in a while, but if you want to build this thing and run into trouble, visit the source of the project and various poppy forums for support.

does this use the expensive digital servos or the cheap ones like 995 ?

The complete list of required hardware is listed on the source site. This isn't cheap to make, all told it will likely exceed $5,000 to build one.

Finally someone with the hip connectors to build the legs section of the robot. Would you by chance have access to the step files or know of a way to modify the stl's? Ive printed them on my 3d printer and the mounting holes to the servos are too fragile and i want to remove them and make the brackets stronger for my applicaiton. I was able to find the step files for the other components on the github repository but nothing for the hip links. These are the only parts I have remaining to bring my robot to life. Thank you for any and all help.

Cannonized, I don't have the STEP files, but there are programs that allow modifications to STL files. There are also ways to convert an STL file to a STEP file (I did some conversions for the scissor hands project). I think there are a few options available to achieve your objective.
