This is the Chess Pawn I created for my book "Beginner's Guide to 3D Printing".
Created in Tinkercad.
3/2/2018:
I updated the Chess Pawn for a new version of the book. The new pawn called the CHEP Pawn uses the Tinkercad Sides feature to smooth out the design and greatly improve its look and feel. I printed it on my CR-10 Mini which did a great job.
Full story of the new design is in my YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/YJQUYSs3XrQ

Hello,
When I print this pawn on the fabrikator mini 1.5 version it will shift layers about 2.4mm high.
not sure how to fix this. I am using pla 1.75 and the code for simplify3d program.
Default setting in S3D nozzle diameter 0.45, multipler 2.60, layer hieght 0.1m. 30% infill
I have a video of it if you would like to see. https://youtu.be/RZjOrVF2388
Thank You
sidney
I uploaded a new S3D FFF file with correct settings. My version with 0.45 and 2.60 were a mistake (I uploaded the wrong file). Download my latest at http://www.elproducts.com/fabrikator-mini.html
If after that its still shifting, check for resistance in the X and Y movement. I've found the fan on my extruder was rubbing causing shifting once.
Has anyone had any issue with the motor that moves the bed platform over heat and makes a grinding noise when printing?
The motor gets so hot you can not touch it. I do not think this is normal.
I have the printer raised up and off the table to get air under it but it does not help.
The belt is not lose. I thought I might have the extruder to close to the bed so I raised it a couple of times. The weird thing is that it make more noise when I raised it higher of the bed.
I've notice the belt does not move or the gear on top of the motor when the noise happens. Even a slight touch on the belt while it is moving will cause the noise to come from the motor. Almost like the motor has no torque.
Any thoughts?
Is this defective?
You can adjust the current to the motor on the board. This forum has a lot of the answers from people who have already done this.http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2469638&page=89
